To Tank or Not to Tank....

Perhaps you've been thinking about how you can be a little more "green"?
Well, a great way to start is to replace that old, clunky water heater that leaks, spits, curses and hisses and replace it with a tankless water heater.

What exactly is a tankless water heater, you ask? Well, it's pretty self explanatory, but lets dive into some details, shall we?

Tankless water heaters, also known as" demand-type" or "instantaneous water heaters", provide hot water only as it is needed. They don't produce the standby energy losses associated with storage water heaters, which can save you money.

It's sort of the same way with your heater. You don't heat your home to 78 while on vacation. Same with your water. Heat it when it's needed.

The initial cost and installation can vary, but the savings and peace of mind are well worth the small investment in a green future!

More Plumbing Tips!

Here are a few more plumbing tips that could save you a bundle!

1.Inspect your home for slow leaks by taking a reading on your water meter before bedtime. The next morning, without using any water overnight, take another reading. If the reading has changed you have a leak that should be repaired. Call us right away.

2..Install flood alarms. Like a smoke alarm, a flood alarm is a battery-operated device that sounds an alarm when it comes into contact with water. It alerts you to potential flooding or leaks.

3. Check your sprinkler system to make sure there are no errant water discharges. Your lawn and wallet will benefit from repairing a leaky irrigation system.

Are You Ready For Fall? We Are!

Fall is here and we have a few tips to help you prepare your home's plumbing for the change in weather.

First, drain your hot water heater: This is especially necessary if you happen to live in an area that uses hard water. When your hot water heater isn't drained enough, extra amounts of sediments could build up in the tank, and rust could begin to develop in the tank.

Autumn is the best time to drain your hot water heater. If you find that your hot water heater is too old or is rusty, you should probably consider getting a new one. You don't want to go throughout winter taking cold showers. Tankless water heaters are also an option to consider.

Second, Disconnect water hoses: Gone are the days when you used to go outside to fill up the pool or wash your car thanks to your trusty water hose. Well, now is the time to disconnect your beloved water hose and put it away until springtime. If you leave your outdoor hose connected to the faucet, the water that's still left in the hose can freeze and expand during the fall and winter months, which can cause your faucets and the connecting pipes inside your home to freeze. Not only will you be hindered from your future summer outdoor activities in the coming year, but you will also have to foot a hefty repair bill if you neglect to disconnect the hose.

Third, Give us a call! We are more than willing to inspect and certify your home's readiness. Our professionals are standing by. We're ready for Fall, are you?

General Plumbing Maintenance Tips

Below are a list of General Plumbing Maintenance Tips to ensure that you are getting the most cost effective and safe plumbing throughout your home. Practice the following tips and you can potentially save yourself money and future headaches.

1.Pour a gallon of water into infrequently used drains (including floor drains) to fill the trap and prevent odors from entering the house. Slow floor drains should be snaked to ensure they will carry away water quickly during a flood.

2.Check exposed pipes under sinks and in the basement for signs of leaks.

3.Install a backflow valve in the floor drain if you live in an area where sewers sometimes backup into homes. This device will prevent future backups.

4.If your home has a sump pump, make sure it operates properly by pouring a few buckets of water into the sump pit. The pump should quickly turn on, discharge the water then shut off without any problems.

Reliable and Professional Plumbing Services You Can Count On.

Family owned and operated, AquaTech Plumbing has served the suburbs of Chicago proudly for more than 30 years. In that time, we have worked on helping you in times of plumbing replacement, repair, and emergency.

Replacements could be as simple as fixture replacements. Wear and tear will eventually render a faucet weak and eventually useless. Our professionals will install your new fixtures in no time. It will improve quality and aesthetics.

Or perhaps a compromised hose is soaking the laundry room. We'll be there!
Repairs can be as small as a leaky faucet --that can add it to a large cost. It's better to get a professional out to look at a leak than a flood. But don't worry, we can handle both.

Emergency plumbing situations are the most unwanted--but most needed service. If it's the middle of the night and a pipe bursts, a basement floods or a water heater goes out, you and your family shouldn't have to wait until 8 a.m for help. By then, the damage is done. Our 24/7 emergency service will answer your call and have the situation under control upon our expeditious arrival.
If we could put sirens on our trucks, we would. But know this: Whether if it's an emergency or a small leak, we regard your business as big business. No leak is too small, no flood is too big.
